It’s All About the Pride of the Shirt — #7. Leeds United

By: Nick | April 12th, 2007

leeds1.jpg Leeds United might have worn all white in hope of emulating Real Madrid (chosen in 1961 exactly for this reason) — but that’s surely where the comparison ends.

No longer flying high in the Champions League and a client of Nike, their calamitous fall now means that they share kit makers with the now defunct Virginia Beach Mariners of the USL. Surely this can’t be a good omen for Leeds fans.

They are one of a long list of football clubs now sponsored by an internet gambling company. With the same firm sponsoring Blackburn, would there be a conflict of interest should they meet?

Between 1934 and 1950 their shirt design was the same as Blackburn’s as well, only in yellow and blue.
