Currently lying 9th in the Conference (Blue Square Premier or whatever), it is hard to predict exactly how this will turnout. See the MYFC website for more details, but basically the goal is the true democratic running of a football side. The 50,000 ‘owners’ will decide by vote on all aspects of the side including team selection, transfers, sponsorship, etc.

The opinions have been thick and fast, and widely varied, including Birmingham chairman David Sullivan generally slating the whole idea. The comments from the Ebbsfleet camp have been good, as expected, and I personally feel the idea can have some success.

With the extra cash injection in the January window, and a decent position currently to challenge for the playoffs, a debut in the Football League may not be that far off, and who knows, maybe the Championship isn’t out of range as well.

It’s a sad thing to hear about a town losing its team — even though the past few years have not been kind.

It’s especially depressing, coming a few days after news that a Premiership player has the ridiculous celebrity and wealth to hire Lionel Richie as his wedding singer.

It’ll be the Blue Square North Division of the Conference next season, a certain bitter blow to all those fans I witnessed give their all in support of their team under the most strenuous of circumstances.

Mere survival seems at stake for the club — unless of course a somewhat cheeky plea to Sir Alex Ferguson comes to fruition.

Having been relegated from the Football League less than a decade ago, it’s been all downhill ever since, with volunteers now required to help spruce up their ground should they be around to play in it.

There has been a small piece of good news today, as a full decision on the future has been put back a week — but things certainly don’t look too good, it must be said.

In the event of the Clubs demise (in its current form), there is a supporters trust set up to possibly help resurrect a football club in Scarborough anew. Best of luck to all involved.

While the extensive football media salivate over the next earth shattering Premiership transfer, there are a whole host of clubs fighting for precious survival (on and off the pitch) on a daily basis.

The BBC today have a nice little spotlight on Conference North club Lancaster City and their total of no league points after 39 games.

Besides the nuts and bolts – I hope to also provide some insight into the rich history and broad culture of the teams from the Championship, League One and League Two. That’s Division Two, Three and Four for the traditionalists out there (of which I am one).
