Leeds United — The Saga Continues
By: Nick | June 2nd, 2007
You know, the more I follow the current plight of Leeds United, I can’t help but feel the whole thing has become a battle of good versus evil.
On one side you have the dark side (Ken Bates) — an outsider, with ties to Chelsea who spends all but 90 days living outside of the UK, so that he doesn’t have to pay too many taxes.
Then, attempting to overcome the ominous plans of Bates you have Duncan Revie, the son of legendary Leeds manager Don Revie, hailed as the bastion of good by the suffering and by now surely bewildered Leeds fans. Whom I liken to the many innocent construction workers killed when the Death Star was destroyed in “Return of the Jedi”.
The only slight wrinkle in my analogy is that Ken Bates somewhat resembles Obi Wan Kenobi — but never mind that.
The sad news is that the battle still rages as I speak, having failed to come to a conclusion yesterday. Those who follow the club are certainly learning the true meaning of patience.
