Rafa Benitez No Longer Flies the Spanish Flag Alone
By: Nick | February 27th, 2007
It’s hardly as if Swansea City raided La Liga to snatch their Spanish manager - but the appointment of ex-player Roberto Martinez is a bold move and somewhat of a gamble (as he lacks any experience).
The fans seem relatively content with the appointment of just the second Spanish manager in English football - sure to be a trivia question one day.
Time will tell if Martinez copies Rafa’s model and brings in some fellow countrymen to aid the cause. There’s little doubt that life as a League One manager is hardly a walk in the park - we’ll see if some sunny Spanish flair can flourish in rainy South Wales.
