By: Nick | April 6th, 2007
Brighton & Hove Albion may be safe from slipping further down the Football League ladder these days - but the future is still one of great uncertainty for the club and its fans.
For those unaware - ‘The Seagulls’ have called the Withdean Athletics Stadium home since 1999. As you can imagine it’s far from ideal for football.
Yet the club have been frustrated with its plans to build a new home - and are in the midst of an extraordinary battle that has encountered fierce resistance form the local council and others, with the process having even found its way to the desk Britain’s Deputy Prime Minister. Process that.
On the back of all of the uncertainty surrounding a decent home the club and its fans can enjoy - news of significant financial losses today are sure to keep the mood somber.

Somehow this post slipped past me til now, but the more people who know about our sorry plight the better, so thanks for posting this.
The first couple of seasons after the Goldstone Ground closed, we played in Gillingham, many miles and a few motorways away. It was miserable. My first visit there, we lost 1-0 in a piss-poor game and I crashed my car on the way home. I never went to Gillingham again.
