The Future of Leeds United Remains Cloudy

By: Nick | May 29th, 2007

leeds.jpg For poor Leeds fans, the nightmare goes on. Who will end up owning the club and where they will play could be settled on Friday. Yet I doubt folks are holding their breath. Prospective owner Ken Bates predicts doom should his own bid be turned down:

“If the CVA fails, I can assure the fans it’s unlikely there will be a Leeds United Football Club. Remember Accrington took 45 years to get back to league status from when they went out of the league”.

Ouch. A club that may not be the most popular in English football, certainly deserves a little better.

I thought that Leeds was supposed to not be in debt this season. Was their attendance that bad? It seemed like Leeds was on the path to recovery, but I guess they have lapsed into a negative spiral again. Sad, like you said, to see a team like this fall apart.
