After 87 Years, Morecambe FC Have Secured a Spot in the Football League
By: Nick | May 22nd, 2007
We’re often left jaded with reports of Premier League greed and wrongdoings, so it’s refreshing to witness the unbridled joy those around Morecambe Football Club are feeling this week, after making it to the Football League for the first time in their 87 years of being. Well done.
The manner of their play-off victory over Exeter City quite simply put the turgid FA Cup Final of 48 hours earlier to shame, and proved that you don’t have to be paid hundreds of thousands of pounds to provide quality entertainment for fans.
So it’s on to the dizzy heights of Coca Cola League Two for The Shrimps and their fans — no easy task, with turnstiles and toilet facilities just a couple of things needing an upgrade. Also, fans of other clubs can look ahead to visiting a new ground, with its “Carwash Terrace“.

GO SHRIMPS. One of my closest mates here in the states is a Morecambe native and she’s on cloud nine right now.
