Macclesfield Town Might Need to Invoke the Spirit of Paul Ince’s Slippers to Help Beat the Drop

By: Nick | April 25th, 2007

slippers.jpg Despite looking on the safe side a mere month ago, Macclesfield Town are still only two points above losing their League status — with two matches left to play.

No doubt they’ll need grit and determination to avoid the dreaded drop into Conference football, and boss Paul Ince and his slippers might provide the perfect example. Said his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson of his Manchester United days:

“When a player is at his peak, he feels he can climb Mount Everest in his slippers — that’s just what he was like.”

Exactly the kind of leader needed in the dressing room right now for the The Silkmen to remain safe.

Awesome quote. I wonder what the psychic guy who emails me every week telling me he saved the Silkmen will say if they do go down.
