It’s All About the Pride of the Shirt — #2. Plymouth Argyle
By: Nick | February 26th, 2007
The biggest reason I dig The Pilgrims’ dark green shirt is the simple fact that it makes me hungry! Why? For they are proudly sponsored by local bakery Ginsters - purveyors of lovely meat pies and the famous Cornish pasty. A truly delicious thing indeed.
Hunger pangs aside, it’s also a decent enough design by Puma - nothing too off putting. Although the white arm pits aren’t the greatest idea though.
Funny fact - some miners from Cornwall founded Mexican league club CF Pachuca in 1901 - and you can even find authentic Cornish pasties served in the nearby town of Real del Monte. Really.
Plymouth are having an excellent Championship season so far under comical/eccentric manager Ian Holloway - 12th in the league and into the FA Cup Quarter Finals for the first time since 1984. They’ve a home tie with Watford next - a great chance to progress. Mmmm… Ginster’s pasties (drooling).
