Football League Club Crest of the Week — Sheffield Wednesday

By: Nick | March 8th, 2007

wed.gif I think the beauty of this image lies in its simplicity. No clutter and grand motif to detract from the elegant Owl symbol. Merely the simple note of club establishment in 1867 - a mere two years after the end of the American Civil War. Please take note Los Angeles Galaxy as you big up your ‘rich history’ when David arrives.

The Owl so synonymous with the club was inspired by the district of Owlerton - from where Sheffield Wednesday have their roots. This incarnation of the crest has been used since 1995. Already a classic.
