Unfortunate Southampton Statue Will Come Down

‘ET’ jokes aside, the people behind this appalling statue have certainly not been very amused by the harsh reaction it has produced - more like bemused.
They claimed to have been unable “to sleep or eat or do anything since the statue was unveiled” on Saturday night”.
What’s most vexing to me is that the thing was allowed to go up in the first place!
I’ll admit, I’m no expert on sculptures or anything remotely artsy for that matter - but even my untrained eye can see that it’s a piece of horrendous rubbish. And at a cost of 112,000 pounds it’s even worse. What - did the ‘artist’ pocket 111,500 pounds for himself?
Could this have been one big gag by a Portsmouth fan? Fan rivalry certainly knows no boundaries. Perhaps they should have checked the artists allegiance before they gave him the job.
